Welcome to the Summer Camp Leadership blog. For those of us who lead summer camps, making a positive difference in the lives of young people is our passion. Turning that passion into a reality, however, takes more than the ability to lead songs, teach archery or plan craft projects. Creating camp experiences that truly transform lives takes leadership. Enhancing Potential

In his book, Mentor Leader, Tony Dungy argues that the role of the leader is to focus on building people and developing the next generation of leaders. Dungy, who had success as a head coach with the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Indianapolis Colts, lists seven keys to enhance the potential of others. His "Seven E's for Enhancing Potential" include:

2. Educate
3. Equip
4. Encourage
5. Empower
6. Energize
7. Elevate
