Great wisdom from a classic work on leadership by Warren Bennis:
"No leader sets out to be a leader. People set out to live their lives, expressing themselves fully. When that expression is of value, they become leaders.
So the point is not to become a leader. The point is to become
yourself, to use yourself completely – all your skills, gifts and
energies – in order to make your vision manifest. You must withhold
nothing. You, must, in sum, become the person you started out to be, and
to enjoy the process of becoming.” – Warren Bennis, On Becoming a Leader
Welcome to the Summer Camp Leadership blog. For those of us who lead summer camps, making a positive difference in the lives of young people is our passion. Turning that passion into a reality, however, takes more than the ability to lead songs, teach archery or plan craft projects. Creating camp experiences that truly transform lives takes leadership. Leadership that creates a vision for the future, leadership that inspires and engages others, leadership that remains focused and stays the course. My hope is through this blog you'll find ideas, inspiration and tools to help you be a great summer camp leader.
